Sprite Bezel - Rolex's Most Understated GMT

Since the beginning of 2025, international gold prices have experienced a strong surge, breaking historical highs. Gold watches have also garnered significant attention during this period of strong growth. Generally, most people associate "gold watches" with rose gold or yellow gold, often overlooking white gold. However, while both are considered "gold watches," 18K white gold, due to its color resemblance to stainless steel, possesses a more understated quality.

Green is Rolex's brand color, and its importance is self-evident. Among Rolex's many products, the green Submariner enjoys immense popularity, with the saying "anything green is bound to be a hit" circulating in the watch industry. On the other hand, the black-incorporated "Sprite Bezel" also exudes a very sophisticated and understated elegance.

The first replica Rolex GMT-Master II "Sprite Bezel" watch was launched in 2022, featuring an Oystersteel case and offering either an Oyster bracelet or a Jubilee bracelet (Lexus bracelet). The most eye-catching feature of this timepiece, besides the use of a green/black two-tone bezel, is the placement of the crown at the 9 o'clock position, making it a so-called "left-handed watch" that caters to the needs of a niche market.

The newly released white gold "Sprite Bezel" in 2025 largely retains the design of its predecessor. However, to enhance differentiation, it features a green dial similar to the bezel color, with the GMT hand changed to white gold to increase contrast. Besides the color difference, another key difference is that the white gold "Sprite Bezel" is currently only available with an 18K white gold Oyster bracelet; a Jubilee bracelet (five-link bracelet) is not yet available.

The Popular Tudor Black Bay Chrono

The Tudor Black Bay Chronograph with a pink dial breaks away from the series' usual understated and luxurious style, incorporating this fresh and elegant color into the piece, attracting attention for its "contrast". Riding the wave of popularity of the pink version, Tudor followed up with a blue-dial Black Bay Chronograph. If green is Rolex's signature color, then blue is undoubtedly Tudor's. Historically, blue has held a significant place in Tudor's product line: the Black Bay Chronograph's predecessor, the "Monte-Carlo," released in the 1970s, was the first to incorporate blue elements. Therefore, the blue version is named "Tudor Blue," a testament to its status.

Flamingo Blue. This color lies between blue and green, blending the characteristics of both, resulting in a refreshing hue with high recognizability. Undoubtedly, as one of the most popular color schemes in the watch industry in recent years, Tudor's "Flamingo Blue" has garnered attention due to its similarity to "Tiffany Blue".

The Patek Philippe Nautilus 5711, previously known as the "King of Steel," once released a true "Tiffany Blue" watch (model 5711/1A-018). At a Phillips auction, this piece sold for $5.35 million, setting a new record. This sparked a "Tiffany Blue" craze in the watch world, including "Flamingo Blue."

Finally, there are the classic models: the "Little Monster" and the "Little Panda." The "Little Monster" is officially named the Black Bay Chronograph in Gold and Steel, named for its combination of a black main dial and gold sub-dials. This piece boasts a luxurious feel, incorporating 18K gold. As you can see, the use of gold in the "Little Monster" isn't limited to the dial; the crown, chronograph pushers, and even the markings on the tachymeter bezel are all presented in gold. In 2022, Tudor released the Black Bay Chronograph in Gold and Steel with a gold main dial and black sub-dials.
